2025

Ethereal Motion, ft. Swan Lake, Act II

Saturday, March 22, 2025 @ 1:00pm & 6:00pm

Gull Lake Center for the Fine Arts

Richland, Michigan

We are excited to bring you a mixed repertory performance this Spring! This concert features Swan Lake, Act II, an original work by Artistic Director Betty Kondo, a new piece by Artistic Assistant Lauren Wertz, and an exciting reprise of Artistic Director Emerita Cathleen Huling's piece based on the artwork of Kirk Newman.

Swan Lake, Act II - This piece is based on the 1877 classic ballet with traditional choreography after Marius Petipa and music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikowsky. It is a timeless love story that mixes enchantment, tragedy, and romance and is now one of the most popular ballets of all time.

Homeward - An original work by Artistic Director Betty Kondo, this contemporary piece is performed to music by Future of Forestry and explores the necessity for community as we journey throughout life's greatest joys and deepest challenges. At the end of the day, we are all walking each other home.

Figment - A new ballet-forward piece by Artistic Assistant Lauren Wertz, Figment invites us to experience specific sounds within the music and watch them come to life with the dance. The work is set to music entitled "Figment" by Power-Haus, a contemporary orchestral band.

It's All About... - A reprise of Artistic Director Emerita Cathleen Huling's piece based on the artwork of Kirk Newman, It's All About... has three sections, BalanceBallerinas, and Beautiful People. Each section highlights, and is inspired by, artwork created by the late, world-renowned, local artist, Kirk Newman. These works are set to music by Mannheim Steamroller.
